You just realized that your favorite CD has a
scratch across the surface. Before you toss it,
try these solutions for removing scratches.
Difficulty Level: Easy Time Required: 5 min.
Here's How:
1.Most CDs can easily be replaced, but if
this one is very important to you, first
determine how badly the disc is
scratched.
2.Minor scratches- Wiping the disc with a
mild abrasive may do the job. Here are
some possibilities: furniture polish, silver
polish or toothpaste.
3.Larger scratches- Apply a filler over the
whole disc and buff out with a lint free
cloth. Some fillers: car wax or furniture
wax. This method should work, but the
disc may be more prone to damage due
to the soft wax.
4.Consider using a professional to remove
scratches from truly valuable CDs.
Tips:
1.Always wipe from the center to the
outside edge of the disc.
2.Scratches all the way through the disc are
generally unrepairable.
